There are way too many pinball games on the market today. Each offers its own spin on computer pinball, from the futuristic (Sierra's Ultra 3D Pinball) to as exact a replica that is possible on the computer (the Amtex games). Straddling the line somewhere in the middle is empire's Pro Pinball series, the first game of which is a table called The Web. While some gamers may not be happy with a single table, keep in mind that most games with multiple tables feature one that is usually quite good and others that are at best mediocre.
The Web is so good because the table design is solid. There are plenty of targets and it provides further proof that a non-scrolling playfield is superior because it allows you to see the entire table at any time, allowing you to set up shots. The game gives you a number of visual options allowing you to customize the view as well as the resolution (640x480 up to 1024x768 is supported).
Where The Web really excels is in the graphics. With support for high-color graphics (32,000 colors) at the highest resolutions, it makes for a seriously good looking game. Gorgeous, in fact. The sound is equally good, with the requisite pinball sounds and techno soundtrack.
Overall, if you like pinball, you can't help but get caught in The Web.
